The Bay of Plenty Garden and Art festival is such a great event to be involved with, I love meeting all the enthusiastic gardeners and art lovers that attend every two years. I am very excited to be able to display my paintings in the wonderful garden of Julie and Jim Carle, 'Eclectica', Garden #59 in the Garden and Art booklet.
This garden is a sub tropical gem, hidden right in the middle of Mount Maunganui. On arrival at the Rita Street property you will walk up a slight incline with steps leading under the Pohutukawa and Puka canopy into a lovely shady oasis, where my vivid botanical work is beautifully set off against the surrounding green of the underplanting.
The path then leads you past interesting photos of the development of Julie and Jim's property over the years, past their home, on towards the real jewel of the property, featuring palms, dracaenas, bromeliads, cycads and ferns. The garden path leads you to a delightfully secluded rock garden and gazebo -
a perfect spot to watch birds bathe in the fishpond, listen to the resident frogs and enjoy a variety of statues and collectibles. This is also where my softer 'In the Balance' and 'Coastal' work will be located.
